OVERVIEW:

Alberta Blue Cross® has an opportunity for a Senior Security Analyst. You will be joining a team responsible and accountable for the management and governance of enterprise IT security.

While leading projects, responding to incidents, setting direction and providing strategic oversight, the Security Services team implements, manages, and executes a strategic security roadmap as well as provides operational security accountability.

The successful candidate will report to the Manager of IT Security Services and will act as a trusted cybersecurity advisor. The ideal candidate will have a compliment of both technical and business experience, with direct skills in vulnerability scanning, ethical hacking tools coupled with the foresight on how these tools are used in a corporate environment.

The candidate would have exceptional planning ability to leverage their experience within an IT environment and able to champion security initiatives independently using proven judgement and business understanding.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Respond to threats, alerts and cyber security related incidents in a rapid fashion, orchestrating operations from initial detection through to remediation.
  • Participate in vulnerability management scanning exercises through to remediation.
  • Collaborate and engage with internal teams to assess security risk within all IT systems.
  • Proactively monitor and correlate publicly announced vulnerabilities to potential threats to Alberta Blue Cross®.
  • Communicate effectively with various IT technical and business teams.
  • Provide guidance required by staff and customers in implementing secure technical solutions.
  • Assist with compliance assessments for Alberta Blue Cross® systems and our third-party system providers.
  • Mentor and coach team members in partnership with the Security Manager, with an end goal of retaining a workforce of the highest quality for both the team and the company.
  • Encourage and enforce quality control for all standard operating procedures used by the team.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce security risk along with options to remediate or mitigate risk.
  • Drive the development of policies, procedures, workforce, and standards that meet internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Lead security projects through to operationalization with consideration of different business functions within the organization.
  • Lead the development of security training programs.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of simulation exercises, such as phishing tests, etc.
  • Promote awareness of industry events and regulatory changes as they relate to cybersecurity.
  • Collaborate with experts from various IT domains to lead security and forensics analysis.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A diploma or degree in a related technical discipline from a recognized institute.
  • 10+ years of experience in a medium to large organization with a strong focus on IT security and governance.
  • Industry certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, and OSCP are considered an asset and well as strong knowledge of security frameworks, such as NIST.
  • Understanding of cloud security, along with Microsoft O365.
  • Must have a clear understanding of cyber threats that face all organizations today, with demonstrated experience in Threat & Vulnerability Management.
  • Commensurate experience with security and network tools used to deduce and detect threats.
  • Established experience in managing security operations across various technology platforms and user information stores.
  • Strong security incident management and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in written communication, organizational skills, and strategic thinking.
  • Highly adaptable to operate in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience in delivering a well-integrated security monitoring practice, which reinforces the concept of defense-in-depth.
  • Exemplary social skills with a strong emphasis on articulating technical topics into business language.
  • A strong understanding of common IT components that make up and organizations and how security changes can impact different levels of operations/applications.
  • Highly accountable, ethical, dependable and responsible.
