OVERVIEW:

Due to recent growth, the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) department has openings for three dynamic Senior Financial Analysts with exceptional business partnering acumen in order to collaborate with leaders across Alberta Blue Cross®. Working in a flexible work style, the Senior Financial Analyst will report directly to a Manager in the FP&A area. In addition to strong analytical and accounting know-how, the Senior Financial Analyst will possess excellent communication skills and well-rounded business acumen.

There are two opportunities supporting operating and support divisions, along with one opportunity specifically supporting Information Technology operations and project accounting. Each role will support specific operations in developing driver-based budgets and forecasts, as well as reporting monthly actuals and creating ad-hoc reports and analysis as required. The IT and Project Accounting role will oversee the project accounting module to track and report on a capital and non-capital project portfolio valued at approximately $40 million per year.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Establish consultative relationships with divisional leaders in developing driver-based budgets, forecasts and assessing variances.
  • Engage with areas to understand their business, interpret financial results, costing output and deliver reporting on a regular basis.
  • Enhance evidence-based decisions through analyses of customer profitability, cost allocation and resource optimization.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of strategies and apply leading practices in defining process and procedures.
  • Align key performance indicators with organizational goals and utilize tools and reports to effectively monitor and communicate them.
  • Take a proactive approach in departmental and organizational projects and initiatives.
  • IT and Project Accounting specific:
  • Support enterprise tracking, accounting and reporting of capital and non-capital projects, including the interpretation and application of accounting rules and corporate policies on capitalization.
  • Assist and support the implementation and maintenance of the project accounting module for the General Ledge

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred.  A related undergraduate degree coupled with several years of related experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years’ progressively responsible experience in financial planning and analysis in a similar size organization.
  • Critical thinking skills in pursuit of continuous improvement and value-add.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and analyzing driver-based models.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to break down complex financial concepts and communicate without prejudice, while forming collaborative partnerships that engage various levels within the organization, including executive and non-financial managers.
  • Experience developing, designing, analyzing and continuously improving reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deliverables, anticipate obstacles and meet deadlines.
  • Initiative in taking ownership and responsibility.
  • Proficiency in data analysis through Microsoft Excel and experience with corporate performance management or enterprise systems.
  • Experience or familiarity with advance analytics and query tools such as VBA, SQL and Power BI  will be considered asset.
  • IT and Project Accounting specific:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience supporting an Information Technology department and/ or project accounting.
  • Experience with project accounting modules for tracking, analyzing and reporting on capital and non-capital projects along with accounting requirements.
