OVERVIEW:

Alberta Blue Cross® is seeking an individual to join our Computer Operations team in the role of a Computer Operator / Operations Analyst.  Under the guidance of senior team members and the Team Manager, the successful candidate will join a team responsible for supporting critical IT systems and services including data centre facilities, enterprise printing, batch job scheduling/monitoring, as well as data backup services. This team is responsible for the 24x7 delivery of highly effective processes related to providing monitoring, management, automation, quality controls, reporting, and issue resolutions for critical enterprise systems. The team has an on-call rotation as well as a requirement for rotational daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. 

Our ideal candidate is self-reliant, has great attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proven capability to resolve complex issues as well as a passion for and interest in ongoing learning and development. A familiarity and comfort working night shifts is highly beneficial.  This position reports to the Team Manager of Computer Operations in the IT Infrastructure and Operations department.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Learn established processes that ensure precision and accuracy in the management of Computer Operations based systems, including data centre facilities, enterprise printing, batch job scheduling/monitoring, as well as data backup services.  
  • The Computer Operations team has a variety of roles with the opportunities to participate in the following technical areas:  
    • Management and monitoring of a large-scale batch job scheduling system responsible for the automation of critical business processes.    
    • Participate in a large-scale high-speed print operation including maintenance and printing of a variety of products and materials.  These include cheques, statements, invoices, and ID cards.
    • Participate in the management and scheduling of data backup services.
    • Participate in the management of data centre facilities.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A diploma or degree in a related technical discipline from a recognized institute.
  • 1-5 years of experience in an enterprise IT environment.
  • A keen interest in technology with a passion for continuous learning and growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with effective planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting, administration, and automation skills.
  • Detail oriented nature, with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to gather requirements and find innovative and effective solutions.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to build strong effective working relationships in a collaborative team environment.
  • A high level of accountability and a demonstrated ability to be both reliable and dependable. 
  • Ability to be versatile and highly adaptable to respond to changing business priorities.
